At what age were you ready for sexual activities?

Please take note of my specific questions.

... without it leaving some scarring psychological remains?

I'm not asking when you had sexual activities ... I'm just asking when you think you were ready ... or should have been ready ... Not when you were actually ready.

Point as argument being: You could have thought that you weren't ready for sex but in fact you were ready ... or vice versa!

The reason I'm asking is because on wikipedia some countries on this planet have some very varied distinctions on this matter.

My question is ... WHY?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Europe

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Africa

EDIT: And as always ... it goes without saying ... as in all my posts ... be honest with yourself.

... be honest with yourself.
... as if I am ... but this is not relevent. Just answer my bloody question.

30. Age when married.
Sex outside marriage always leaves scars.

It's up to the individual. One can be physically ready for sex and be completely emotionally unready...

probably around 15 / 16

Younger than that I had played around (things sort of happening by chance) , but at about 15 / 16 I was aware of specifically wanting to engage in some form of sexual activity with specific people.

Now to me that seems old, but this is precisely why it is dependent on the individual. In the eyes of the law, they have to draw the line somewhere in the sand, and that line cannot be open to interpretation. Unfortunate, but an inevitable flaw of modern legal systems. In the eyes of a parent, well that's a different story altogether...

For me it was at around 14. I already knew what I wanted emotionally and physically but it wasn't until I was 19 before I was in a long-term relationship and did more than just fool around.

From just a "normal" point of view, I think sex is important and people who remain celibate until they're *cough* 30... Are generally pretty weird and psychologically "out of it" people. I've come to realise folks like that (and I've run into a few) are very rarely that way by choice and 9/10 it's because they're either socially inept or physically off-putting.

Yes ....but when (some women aged 30 can also be emotionally not ready). Humans (women actually) are physically ready from plus/minus 16-18 ... all the way up to 60 something.

I'm trying to make a quantitative assessment (as much as a public computer forum allows) of how, more or less, my above statement can be refined ... in a crude manner... (upping the resolution so to speak).

There is no specific age, in my book. It is dependent on the individual, their upbringing, and their all-round maturity...

Physically, women can reproduce far earlier, for the most part, than 16-18, and one can argue that they are typically more emotionally mature than men, or they at least mature quicker than men. Coincidence?

Regardless, I know of some 30 year olds who aren't emotionally mature enough to handle sex. There is no single age for all men and women...

If I have to be brutally honest I would say 22.

This is the age where I really took it seriously from an emotionally as well as safety point of view.

Before then it was all just physical and lust based.

But then again, so what? Why must there be some emotional attachment to sex?

IMO there is a big difference between attributing emotions to sex and being emotionally intelligent and intelligent enough to make an informed decision...

Yeah my comment was more in reference to the safety side of things and emotional distress with regards to pregnancy and such.

Only at 22 did I take contraception seriously enough for it to actually matter.

But I have the same opinion about kids getting their licenses at 18.

Yeees, which is why I want as much individual input as possible and not just one person's induction.

But I have the same opinion about kids getting their licenses at 18.

Another thing I'm wanting to get at.

May I ask what for?

It's a Saturday evening. I'm feeling mildly academic just before I should be turning in for bed.

And before any snide comments ... I know ... which is why I said "mildly".

A true academic would encourage rigorous debate as opposed to plugging unquantified numbers into an excel spreadsheet?

:p :D

And besides, I'm still just gathering data. The time for reflection and analysis comes after.

I'm doing this for my own amusement ... give me a break!
