I have to buy a new card as my old one is well really old. Now can anyone tell me wich of these two cards is the best? They retail for about the same price and that is what my budget can afford at the moment.

Hmm toughee, there's about a dozen different x800's can you be more specific? If thats the budget I'd recommend trying to find a 7600GS.

X800 will be a lot beter

I don't suppose you say this because your nick is ATI :p It all depends on which X800, if its a lower class 1 there's a good chance a 6600gt can be faster in some areas...

A ATI Radeon 9800pro will beat the 6600GT, I think the 6600's bigger brother 6800 will beat the 9800pro.. But won't beat the X800 Standard one.

So to answer your question.. yes the X800 will be much faster.. 7600GS has much more features and is ruffly the same speed as X800.. So rather get that.. Dunno what prices X800 are selling for vs the 7600GS..

Just remember also, are you buying AGP 8x or PCI-express.. Cause Most X800's are AGP 8x, and the 7600GS is only PCI-Express as far as i know...

I know u get the Radeon x850 in PCI-Express

Hope this helps...

Iam looking at the X800 256MB 128bit. The 6600GT is also 256MB 128bit. How does the X800XL compare with these?

And this is what happens if ou take random advice without ny data to back it up.
Here's how it goes from weakest to strongest in all GFX cards mantioned here on this thread:

9800 (Vanilla/Pro/XT 256MB or otherwise)
X800
6600GT
6800LE\Vanilla
X800LE
X800XT
7600GT

6600GT is faster than any 9800 or FX5950 ot anyting of that generation for that matter.
9800 has always been and forever will be slower than 6600GT: FACT!
That is is 256-bit is of no consequence since NV43 is immensly more powerful than R360. It can better ustilize the 16GB/sec of bandwidth than the 9800 can its of bandwidth. Besides the extra features, its cooler and requires less power! FACT!

X800 is also no good. Its much better than 9800, but stiull can't match 6600GT, that is why ATi released X800GTO with a wider memory bus (256-bit) to match the 6600GT!

X800LE and X800XT are virtually the same (read 16 textures/shaders/pipelines) only differing in clock speeds. This was released because X800Pro (12Tex/Shaders/pipes) couldn't match the similarly priced 6800GT in performance.
As a result X800XL performed like or close to 6800U more times than not as X800XT was slightly faster than 6800U.

7600GT is fastest matching the 6800GT/Ultra and beating it most times!
Faster than 6800 Ultra Extreme (450MHz core) and X800XT! (X850XTPE will probably be faster but Im not sure)

So go for the 6600GT if you can only choose between the two I assume AGP is where its at right?

No, I actually want PCI express. Why downgrade if I want to upgrade? Another question, if I have a MOBO that has a nForce chipset will it be wiser to get a nVidia?

I think the 7600GT has my vote at this stage. Now for the MOBO. Should I rather get the new AMD MOBOS that support DDR2 or get me one of these babies, the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium?
