White on cars is a bit of an odd one - it either works incredibly well, or it just makes the car look utterly bland. It works on the R8, especially with the 'blades' behind the cockpit in carbon fibre. :drool:
For some reason, white doesn't work on something like a modern Ferrari - I think it's got to do with the sculpted lines that fade away on a white car. The R8 is more about the profile & the contrast of the darker areas (blades, grilles front and back, etc.) than the fine details of the design. That's my theory, anyway.
