Audio but no picture on SOME movies

Hi Guys

Sansui UMP1006 media player with HDMI to Samsung TV. All movie and series files on the connected HDD is in AVI format however some work fine but others have audio but no picture. This happens on both series and movies

Only setting I can see on the device is HDMI format and that's set to "HDMI Auto"

Any ideas what the issue could be

Sounds like a codec issue, even though the sansui media player plays certain avi files, it might not support the codec that the files were encoded in.

See if there is an updated firmware available for the media player, or replace it with something like a Raspberry Pi with kodi.
