Hi,

I am running a media center + a sinotec 42" LCD.

At the moment my graphics card does not support audio through DVI (I will
upgrade my card , probably next month).

What will be the best option to get sound through the TV?

I have an S/PDIF connector and the normal 3.5

Thanks,

Bar1

you want the sound through the tv?

Why not through an amplifier?

An hdmi ati 4800 series and above card will do get you sound through a single hdmi cable, the card comes with a dvi/hdmi dongle to to the TV.
If you want it to to a reciever then thats another story...and a bit complicated to get 5.1 and dts etc

ATM for the interim period it would be best to use the S/PDIF or coax? to the TV. If it's p[ossible depends on what inputs do you have on the TV?

For using HDMI sound, even if you do get a new GPU you sit with the same problem unless you get a GPU with sound over HDMI capability (LPCM)

Look at this for some information here:

The Fix: 8-Channel LPCM over HDMI (The PS3 way, lossless)

and some more insight on alternatives here

What is the complete setup you have and what are you planning to achieve in future?

I have a similar problem at the moment. Until recently I had a CRT television connected to my Media Center. I have a Asus Geforce 8400 graphics card with S-video out. I just split the stereo sound between the TV and my amp.

When I upgraded to a Full HD LCD, I had to get a DVI-HDMI adapter, but of course it has no sound over the HDMI.

I have now ordered a Asus Geforce 9400GT Silent graphics card with built-in HDMI. The card ships with a cable for connecting the spdif output on the mobo to the graphics card. The card will then also output sound over the HDMI.

If you have the money, you could get one of these:
