Audio/Mic Splitter

Hi guys. I need some help with connecting my headphones to my PC. I am trying to connect my Bose QC25 headphones to the front audio jacks of my PC so that I can use both the audio output and mic input at the same time. I am trying to us a Ugreen audio/mic splitter to achieve this. However, I can't seem to get the mic to work. It seems as if the audio works but nothing gets picked up through the mic. I really don't want to have to buy another pair of headphones so any help would be appreciated. Hardware details below:

Do your headphones work correctly on a smartphone (Audio and Mic)?

Maybe the splitter you bought is faulty? If you live in Cape Town, you are more than welcome to test our splitter and return it if it doesn't work correctly

Have you tried the Ugreen splitter on the rear jacks of your PC, and is the Mic enabled / unmuted?

Could be the mic is disabled under recording devices. I've used the splitter/joiner from avsupply a long while back & they worked fine with my phone's headphones on my PC.

@AVSupply: Thanks for the feedback. I actually bought two of the splitters (one for myself and one for my mate). Neither splitter works on the front jacks of our rigs and we have different mobos and cases. The headphones themselves work perfectly. We have also tried using Apple earpods and the mic also doesn't work. I will try to plug it into the rear jacks which I know work since my surround sound system works fine.

Could there be a software issue that's causing this?

I did check that it is enabled under recording devices and set to the default input device. I will check again though to make sure.
