Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix cancelled

Formula One confirmed it will cancel this year’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix event in Melbourne, adding to the ranks of major global sports disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak.

The decision on the race in Australia’s second-largest city was taken after a member of the McLaren Racing team tested positive for coronavirus, Liberty Media Corp.-owned Formula One, the FIA governing body and Australian Grand Prix Corp. said Friday in a statement.

All Right now I'm piss.... oh I don't watch modern F1.

Well, still bad that we are cancelling things due to some simple flu, but I suppose if some people got infected at F1 they'd never get rid of the bad press.

As you were.

This is not a simple flu, if it was the flu there wouldn't be a problem. If you contract the Corona virus and survive but spread it to your close relatives and one of your older family members die would you be stoked?

So none of are you are more pissed off that FIA have decided that whatever Ferrari is doing to their car is perfectly fine? And that whatever settlement was reached is private and Ferrari needs to sign off on it being made public.

I would be if my wife or kids were impacted by this. /* Shrugs

I do not really care about the necessary precautions taken - races can always be rescheduled. Which - considering the amount of media hype around Covid-19 is understandable.

However things such as the FIA's inability to treat this Ferrari PU matter properly with respect to to the other 9 teams that could have their entire championship affected because of a non-disclosed settlement between a manufacturer and a governing body is bullshit.

Hey Guys,

What about the F1 Festival in Sandton on 29/3? Any idea if that is gonna be cancelled as well?

Good question - a totally different team coming here and mostly based in Europe if I'm not mistaken, so I'm going to guess that's a no-go but nothing official yet.

A bit of coughing shutting down racing??? What happened to the idea of tough brave racing drivers??

It's the fragile 300,000 tourists travelling across the globe they're concerned about.
