I need to buy a small auto car before December for my wife.

She likes the Kia Picanto.

The way it was put to me and the way it still makes most sense to me is as follows:
The automatic gearbox (unlike the turbo charged engine) has been around for long enough that most if not all of the bugs are ironed out.
Obviously there are newer evolutions on the theme- tip/step/multitronic being a few of them but by and large an auto is a safe purchase.

BTW: it was I who dropped 'First On Rubbish Dump' in an earlier thread but it is a well known slag off on FORD.
Either way: if I loved it so much I should have put a ring on it. Oh great, now Beyoncé is going to sue me too.

Ya i found another one that i just took for a test drive. R90,000 for a 1.6, 25000km on the clock, ABS, A/C, elec windows, power steering,mags... i must say the automatic ride is very very smooth.

1 question, why would the 1st service interval be at 22000KM (apparently it
has a 3yr/100,000KM ford warranty).

Overall i think its very nice, he's sending me an offer to purchase now so i can see repayments and make a decision.

Thanx for looking out for me. I'm only going to buy later this year (Oct/Nov/Dec). I am still deciding whether I should buy here while I'm in KZN, or should I wait until I move back to Cape Town in December?

My gut feel is to wait until I get to CT. I don't want to sit with a problematic car and the dealer that sold it to me is 1700km away.
