AutoPatcher shut down by MS

That is really bad news for users and techies.

Autopatcher is/was a superb product which saved time and more importantly bandwidth.

For those without internet access it was also the only way of receiving patches and updates.

So much effort has gone into this free app - hopefully someone will keep it going somehow.

It's a pity Microsoft don't see the benefit to their clients, and no I don't buy the story of it being a security risk.

A real pity - I wondered when they were going to shut it down - legally no-one is allowed to distribute MS patches. You need to download them from MS or you are using a software deployment tool approved by MS that will pull the patches from MS.

The only other alternative is to use WSUS if you have a few machines to patch.
