So no point today to watch it (3D doesn't exist anymore, it was a fad, like curve TVs will be.)

Squeaky bum time. Weekend figures still to be released but based on recent weekend performances (50%+ drop), Avengers should add another $20 - $30 million. Then it is down to longevity. Avatar was in cinemas for 7-months

Engame officially passes Avatar at domestic box office.
But still sits in second place.
Force Awakens still no. 1 at domestic BO

Avengers picked up $29 million over the weekend (52.6% drop). It also had its first theatre cut, screening at 4,220 theatres, down from 4,662.

Nope, looks like Avatar retains.
I have a feeling it is going to fall just short as well. It should break $2.7 billion by this time next week though. Probably run out of gas around $2,730.

Avatar has had 10 years to accumulate that figure. Once the Blu-Ray drops for EndGame, i'm pretty sure it'll take that top spot.
