Hi recently signed up for a new contract with Vodacom for there Mothers day promotion.

The package included a Samsung J1 2016 + Gearfit device. I opted for the more expensive J1 2016 apposed to the "lite" version of the device. It was a promotion item and the gearfit supplied was with the phone, packaged as a unit. Well once it arrived my troubles begun. The Samsung apps store for the J1 does not show any gearfit manager available. Going to the apps.samsung.com/gearfit web page says that the phone is not compatible with the gearfit! So off to the vodacom store I go, they try to install gearfit manager, but admit defeat and refer me to vodacom online who supplied the device as a package.

Well call to vodacom online and email goes unanswered. A second email gets answered that refer's me to the store!
A 45 minute call to vodacom I'm transfered from one service agent to the next who just want to get rid of an increasing irate customer.
Samsung South African support website sends you in circles, a call to Samsung support oh the J1 does not support the gearfit contact the shop that supplied you the devices together.

Its a watch for crying out loud, how difficult is it to get my fitness data out of the device and why do I need a certain Samsung phone only. Samsung don't publish my negative review on the device either. There is not inidcation on the Samsung Web site that the Gearfit is not compatiable with the J1 device, in fact you would expect that one of the newest Samsung phones would work with a product that is more than 2 years on the market.

I would like to use my Gearfit with a Samsung phone to track my fitness but I can't.

Oddly enough I can at least run Gearfit Manager on my Hauwei P6 and G7 devices but I can't sync the fitness results between the Samsung Apps.

AVOID Poor Vodacom service and Useless Samsung gear devices.

The J1 is the entry level phone of Samsungs, it probably will not support a lot of the services another more expensive phone would, it was wrong of Vodacom to bundle the devices though.

I find this hard to believe, 2 year old hardware not functioning on a phone released this year, it makes no sense.

Actually it does, perhaps the older Galaxy devices had something the J1 doesn't have? Or maybe the Gearfit and the J1 aren't compatible due to the Gearfit being 2 years old? I see one or two people moaning the S7 and gearfit aren't compatible on the web.
