My Flipside 300 is too small for me now and I need something bigger.

I bought the Flipside 400 but it's too small so I will be returning it tomorrow to Orms. Problem is the 100-300 I have is quite big and has a large hood so the bag needs to have enough space for it.

50D
430EX
Sigma 24-70
Sigma 100-300
Canon 70-200
And the regular cable remote, card readers, spare cards, diffusers etc.

The Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW looks very nice and is in my price range of R1500. Has anyone used it before or can suggest a better bag at the same price or a different brand?

I use a Pro Runner 350 which holds a 50d with grip, 20d, Sigma 10-20, Canon 24-105, 100-400, 50 f/1.8, 430 flash, batteries, grad filters etc without any problems (there is even space for my 17-40 if I need it). I previously had a mini trekker but found the straps very uncomfortable after an hour's use

That's a ice looking bag, I'm going to have to think about getting one.

It is very nice looking, I'll be collecting one at Orms this morning and will feedback what my thoughts are on space, quality etc. The fact that is holds a 17" notebook is a nice extra as well.

Thanks for the info Chris, that's exactly what I wanted to hear.

I have a Lowpro bag, not sure which one. Cost me like R800?

I can fit the following into it myself: 7D, 70-200 lens, 18-55 lens, 100-400 lens, extra battery and charger, lens hoods for both tele-lenses, and other small accessories.

Ok, still no stock. Can anyone reccomend me a decent backpack around R1500?

You think you need a new bag? :D Here's my usual match day bag (rugby) with the bare necessities.

Had a look at the Flipside 400aw and Fastpack 350 yesterday and they're still too small so I'm probably going to order a 450 AW myself or one of the similar tamrac bags.

Odd that this topic came up today - I was going to get a cheap, basic camera bag but then saw the Lowepro Fastpacks. Now I'm thinking of getting one of those, since I can use it as a daypack as well as a camera bag. I'm just not sure if the Fastpack 100 is too small, or if the Fastpack 200 is too big. I'll probably have to go into Orms and have a look at them in person.

Its the chunky 300mm that causes most of the hassles when it comes to finding a suitable bag. If you buy them new they come with a nice hard case (and hood!) but I got mine second hand .

I'd buy a little larger than you need for right now :)

Different strokes for different folks. I initially had a back pack where you put your stuff in from the side (if that makes sense) - horribly un-ergonomic way of putting the lens and camera in. Few days ago bought something similar to this -

Lowepro Pro Runner 200

Small, compact , less obtrusive and comfortably fits my camera, 3 lenses, flash, P&S and space to spare.

My BiL has one of those. You end up packing too much stuff in it making it impossible to carry for too long. I have the older version of the Expedition 5 and even that gets too heavy after a while.
I hear you now - I caved and bought a Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW and so far it's topping the scales at 18kg.

Nice, it's what I originally wanted but I settled for the Pro Runner 350 as there was no stock.

I needed something that would hold a body with my 300mm f/2.8 and another body . . . as well as the rest of my gear. :)

So far the only room for improvement would to make it a hair deeper to accommodate my Speedlite with a diffuser.
