Best home battery brands in South Africa

Batteries are essential to most backup power systems, and Dyness, PylonTech, BYD, Shoto, HinaESS, and Hubble are among the best available to South African residents.

This is according to SolarAdvice marketing manager Sam Berrow, who told MyBroadband that lithium-ion batteries come highly recommended for several reasons.

If you can afford a Tesla battery you can afford to just move to somewhere civilized.

I use Volta batteries. They have some zef lights.

Did I make a mistake by going with Balancell made in Cape Town? They claim to have 2 decades of experience, were guaranteed for 10 years, and recommended by my Victron system installer. See https://balancell.co.za/home-and-small-business/. Yes, they're not Tesla, but they are also not made in the USA.

Volta seem popular
Very, especially with some installers.
I got word of Volta in November last year, was offered one for R21k plus VAT. Couldn't find much information on them other than designed in India made in Pakistan.
Since then though, they've seemed to prove their worth and are strong contenders.
I still went for the Hubble AM5 at the time, mostly due to their 10 year unlimited cycles warranty.

Wowser, this article lacks some critical details.

The battery chemistry is also important for Lithium batteries! Also the cell manufacturer. Although I assume 90% is either CATL or BYD in South Africa
..

I assume they also somehow forgot SolarMD which is manufacturing and selling billions of Rands of batteries here in SA . As far as I understand they use CATL cells.

Cant beat the bang for buck when these are in stock:

Is this a 12v 100aH/200ah unit? I need one of those so bad. I have an interview to handle it, just need the juice. Not sure if I should be spending R10K on any of these.

Which are the best in terms of cycles and lowest likelihood of fire if something goes wrong?
No LTO yet eh?

I have BSLBatt. Seems fine, no issues 1 year on and never had to reboot or anything.

However, it does make me wonder. These batteries come from China. They're heavy. No one opens them, we just assume its heavy. It has power, and gets charged.

How hard would it be to hide a device in them that can sniff Wifi, do radio signal intelligence, collect area information, and so forth and send it back via roaming GSM? You would never know, because the battery is doing what you expect the battery to do lol.
