backup verification - quickpar

I've recently started adding quickpar recovery files to my backups; was wondering if there are other similar solutions out there that I'm unaware of? Perhaps something with multi-threading and 64bit support...
I know Winrar can create rars with recovery options, but I'm hoping for something free

What do you guys use to add extra protection to your backups?
