Bad broadband more harmful than Apartheid

2030! WTF? Thats 15 years away! We should already have this
 
So, separating people based on their race, is less of a big deal than people having access to the web.
If lack of Internet is worse than Apartheid, should we expect a similar uprising and violent demonstrations/acts of terrorism to effect change?
I guess Apartheid is no longer regarded as much of a big deal to our leaders when they're basically doing the same thing themselves these days.

I think the focus is specific to the impact it has on the economy and future growth of the population.

People with no internet now have a huge disadvantage to compared to those who do. You can draw the same parallel with apartheid if you remove the emotion from the situation and judge the impact it actually had on people's lives when in peaceful times before the revolt.

I mean if we take an overseeing view of the Apartheid era when it was "working" and before the uprising, if everyone accepted the separation it wasn't really such a bad deal.

It's only the revolt that actually made it a problem for most.


PLEASE NOTE : I'm not approving of Apartheid or saying it should have stayed, simply stating that at certain times during the era and if you accepted the "rules" it wasn't all that bad from a lifestyle point of view. Certainly many of my non-white friends even believe that in many cases it was "better" during that era for various reasons.

+1. If you cannot compete in the modern GLOBAL economy, you are screwed. Lobbying for higher wages just forces production to cheaper resources in China and India.

He's not downplaying apartheid, he's emphasising how important internet access is.

Don't know what dafuq is wrong with those people. In any random discussion someone will find a way to inject the word ******. They could be talking about lava tube formations or the quadratic formula and someone will bloody say it. :wtf:
