No, good job SA population and ANC.
Government fumbled badly in the beginning so can't blame the population. If they secured the borders faster, things would be different. They were secretive with securing vaccines and fumbled deals to obtain them - now we are getting Chinese vaccines which have shown not to be as effective against new variants in Peru and other countries. They had a whole year to prepare hospital beds for 3rd wave and people are passing away in their cars in hospital parking lots. Plus the unnecessary cigarette ban and waste of resources policing that could've gone else where. Slow with testing, slow with vaccination rollout, slow to containing outbreaks in certain areas. All these things have a domino effect. The blame is on governments failure to protect its citizens.

We regret to inform you that the last 2 weeks of lockdown didn't work. We need another 2 more weeks of lockdown - subject to extension in our family meeting which will occur in 2 weeks.
I think the worst part of that scenario is having to listen to the bumbling fool waffle on for 30 minutes.

Bad news about lockdown in South Africa

President Cyril Ramaphosa is unlikely to move South Africa away from level 4 lockdown as the number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa remains high.

It should actually be...

We regret to inform you, that we as government are failing to rollout the vaccine to the masses and have not increased hospital beds........but the people of South Africa are also not adhering to the simple regulations of wearing masks and social distancing. As, self taught specialists of the internet, the people should also know by now that it will take atleast 2 weeks for the numbers to come down, as the virus has a 7 to 10 day incubation period.................

It is not possible for me to add anything incremental to this discussion as I do not believe a word that comes out of their mouths or from any of their corrupt departments. However I would just like to comment that doing anything indirectly to improve a situation, like alcohol bans, should only be attempted by God or at very least Solomon or Moses as only they can see the full picture. For every good effect that can be seen there are many unforseen bad effects besides obvious ones like lost jobs, starvation as a result and so on.

If you go to a Hospital you will see the lock down is the right call. The problem is we should have never been in this position as vaccinations should have been a lot further. The government should also provide a lot more financial aid to everyone effected taking a pay cut like New Zealand would be a great start... So easy to shut things down when you sit at home with a full salary.
