I've searched MTN's website and this forum. MTN's website only gives the *141# option sent from the device and in this forum I can only find very old unanswered posts regarding similar questions.

I need to check the prepaid airtime balance for a SIM card in a remote device. It is a bit difficult to remove the SIM and to put it into a normal phone to do the *141# thing and the device does not support USSD either. If I'm not mistaken you can register the number of your Vodacom prepaid SIM on the Vodacom website and you can check your balance online. Does anyone know of a similar service for the MTN network. I know you do get companies providing bulk prepaid balance monitoring and loading, but I only need to manage 1 SIM (number).

Thanks

you can download MTN app
Hi Cool E, Thanks for the reply, but I'm not a mobile boffin. Is this something you can install on your PC? What exactly is it called? I've looked through all the menu options on the MTN website, but cannot find anything like an app I can download...

You can register on MTN's website. You'll then be able to login to their portal and check your balances.

Thanks deweyzeph. Now I have another problem - on step 2 of the registration process, it asks me for the One Time Pin sent to the PHONE to confirm that the number is correct, but the SIM is installed in the device more than 100km from me and it is unattended - now what? :crying:

You're out of luck, you definitely need to do this while you've got access to the sim and can read the sms. There's no other way I'm afraid. The good news is that you'll only have to do this once.

Has there been progress in this area?

I have remote SIM cards that need to be monitored (CellC and MTN). I can use the CellC website to monitor balances but how do I purchase an SMS bundle?

MTN's app offers direct SMS bundle purchasing for other SIMS. Any other options for this?

No, no luck.

You can buy a sms bundle from almost any shop or online banking platform.
