Major property developer ripping off fibre customers

Property developer Balwin has substantially higher prices on its entry-level and mid-tier fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) packages than major fibre network operators (FNOs).

MyBroadband recently compared the value offered by FTTH packages priced under R500 from six major Internet service providers (ISPs) across 15 fibre networks, both big and small.

We found that Balwin Fibre was the worst-value FNO by a significant margin. Its only product under R500 boasts a download speed of just 4Mbps and an upload speed of 1Mbps.

And who paid mybb to expose this "scandal"?

Costs for Others that might be a bit easier to see how much they charge through their ISP's. Notice, charge higher at other ISP's to push their own ISP and then

Anyone on Baldwin fibre who can give feedback?
Anyone know if there a fully feldrd ISP or just white label or somewhere in the middle like a MNVO - but for fibre?

Balwin Connect was recently launched as Balwin fibre was only an open access network. An FNO that launch on their own fibre can always undercut other ISPs.

Because they own the fibre etc within their complexes they build, they can charge whatever they like, which is unfortunate
Also, it is likely they have some exclusivity agreement with an FNO who must pay them a sizable percentage of each connected line. Predatory on both ends, and the customer pays for it.

Doesn't matter who reported it, the only thing of concern is that there are still South Africans happily s********** their fellow countrymen over at the drop of a hat. We're back to the 50% profit margin story that was show to be true again. Thankfully most of the liars, i.e. fact checkers are now out of business.

Paying R899 for my 50Mbps link in a Balwin complex.

when you own the land, you make the rules,
you arent a tree, if you dont like it get starlink,

seriously though, south africa is so backwards sometimes, instead of bringing down prices and making things easier,
they jack up prices and make things harder.
