I had a carton of Stuyvesant filter in my car. I keep my smokes in my car because i can and dont need a logical reason to do so. However the SAPS confiscated my cigarettes. Even though i am an essential worker and have a permit to travel, they searched every inch and then took my cigarettes. Surely that is not legal?

Having cigarettes is not illegal. Selling is illegal.

They could say you were going to sell them. Apparently they think it's illegal to be in the possesion of smokes, you know turning people into criminals for something that was technically legal only a month ago.

Presumably they gave you a receipt and you got the name of the policeman who did this.

If not, it's banditry and highway robbery. Go to your nearest police station and lay a charge. Write up your statement beforehand otherwise it'll take forever.

Just wondering now, the fact that they now said you're allowed to move houses but only till the 7th of June and the fact that they are going to defend the smoking ban in court with everything they have, tells me only one thing. Lockdown lvl 4 is going to be here for at least a month perhaps longer...

I fail to see the criteria for us to go down levels if we're in early stages of the pandemic and they treat 400 new cases a day as a "huge" jump (when it's still to be expected based on our testing numbers and the average infection percentage of the daily test count being inline with our international neighbours). The wording used here and there seems to me like we're gonna be in a high level lockdown for *months*. And that these levels are just giving use a false sense of hope so we can "behave more orderly" and not question our "leaders".

Maybe I'm paranoid. *shrugs* I don't know.

Absolutely illegal. But pursuing it will be just a massive waste of your time. Sad reality unfortunately.

I'm sure that there is considerable thought processing going on. I just believe it's extremely efficient and competent scheming about how to further gain personally from this crisis, while at the same time advancing Karl and Feliks's ideas.

I don't think in any way they are stupid. But they are only thinking of power, money and personal agenda's.
