I really don't get it. They are doing such a piss poor job of banning cigarettes - heck, 90% of smokers say they bought black market. How can they continue with a campaign that is so visibly failing?
I'm really starting to think she is really in on this just for the black market profits. Even the Minister of Health is starting to question her logic.

Bit slow on the uptake, are you? Naive enough give these bastards in charge the benefit of the doubt? Been thinking all along the decisions are based on science? Fooled into the trap that the arsehats in hats are doing this for your health?

An Authority figure admitting they are wrong undermines their own authority. If they admit to being wrong on this it means they can also be wrong on other things. So the only action they can take is to double down on the stupid. That's why Authoritarian governments usually end up killing people.

There will always be a black market for something if there is a demand for it. Prohibition doesn't work.

Watching enca and cele is on, when asked about alcohol and cigarette ban, says he is a member of ncc but that announcement will come from Cyril or Zuma, the way he smiled though, makes me think the ban will stay in place, as last I heard he was against the smokes and booze being sold, that smile says a whole lot, I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it

I honestly dont see this happening- means all TOPS/PNP's and all other small family owned bottle stores and tobacco shops will definitely close, there is no way to sustain a closed store until next year- millions of jobs lost.

Cyril will lose all credibility if he allows this.

And here I was planning on beer and braai celebration with my children in a few days- I haven't seen my daughters in 10 weeks - now we will have to do with tea and cake :crying: :crying:

This has been said before, but this is not about Covid at all.. this is about personal gain / development for a select few.

Secondly.. I. WANT. BEER.

Cele "we know criminals are opportunistic" re: alcohol and cigarettes, then remove the ban, that removes a whole lot of the opportunity, it's really not that hard

I really don't drink myself. A 6 pack lasts me weeks. I still have a lot of booze left. But this is pissing me off.

Also probably mean the ANC will get under 50 percent of the vote in the local elections in 2021 I predict (only got 53 in 2016).
