I still don't get the confusion. "Midnight" i.e. Middle of the Night. So when you go to sleep on Monday you are heading towards Midnight. Not going back in time to Sunday Midnight. I don't see it any other way.
I agree completely.

Time is counted, moving towards midnight. It's 23h00 (or 11 p.m.), then 23h30 (11.30 p.m.) then 23h59 and then that day is over, as the clock turns to the minute after 23h59. In some digital clocks this is displayed as 24:00, in others it is shown as 00.00, but in any case the minute after that is 00:01, which is definitely the following day.

"From Midnight on Monday" means from the moment Monday switches to Tuesday. At 23:59 Monday is about to exhale for the last time and expire, and at 00:01 Tuesday is definitely here, full of new potential.

if only smokers and drinkers had some vindictiveness in them to stop smoking and drinking for a while for no other reason than to screw over government with tax revenue.
All that does is give the bitch reason to push for permanent bans... 'see, look how many quit, I told you they would'

So according to some if you had a "Midnight snack" on Monday you actually had it 12 hours in the past lol.

Are we supposed to say thanks for this and be happy?

Countless people were driven to near insanity with these bans.
Thousands of jobs lost.
An economy that will take decades to recover, if ever.
People ending their own lives.
It'sa miracle that so many had the gutts to pull through.
I commend the South African people, irrespective of ethnicity
They were able to and are stil able to push through, no matter how bad it got.

Yes. Covid was and is the reason for steps to be taken. Those steps taken were wrong.

Nope. I won't say thanks.
I'll say thanks when the thieves and corrupt and lawless are brought to justice.

I'll be sticking to Caesar Pop and Chicago thanks...after 4 months my lungs have adapted and I have got used to them...plus they will most likely be cheaper too.

Fukc gov coffers, they can go and look for it where the sun don't shine for what they have put people through and their cruel idiocy.

It;s time to vote the only way you can...with your wallet.

LMFAO @ DA / Steenhuisen’s disgruntlement with limits on alcohol sales saying that gov needs to push social responsibility..

DUDE!! WTF, open your eyes.. even in your minority group abuse happens.. but hey whine whine whine.. clearly u must appease your donors hey.. SA drinkers can be responsible albeit they’ve not been as long as records have been kept in this country.

2ndly he mentioned it should’ve been lifted months ago.. we just went past peak of hospitals in Gauteng so uhm.. yah this oke needs to learn to add context or be taken as a moron.

I’ll say it again, knowing SA, this is not the end of the story for alcohol in SA.

Sadly its far from over. We are still going to see the repercussions for years to come.
I hear you.
I remember how I viewed 2020 in my mind as a child. Flying cars. Great tech. Happy people. Now it's all just taken by greed.
Not that history is a rosey picture.
It just seems like all sensibility is lost in the world. Ethics is not even an associative term to be used any more. No one in power is ethical. Funds and committees need to be created and paid for, just to keep people from being barbarians. It's fkn laughable to say the least.

I share that sentiment. Things like ethics, morals etc just don't seem to hold any value. Its all marketing, manipulation and spin to become a "leader". My biggest problem is that there is no repercussions people get caught and then just go back to what they were doing. Its a global issue as well.

You can bet your bottom dollar the smaller places will be selling on Monday.
Our local PnP was clearing the wine shelves of other produce on Friday already. There was already activity in the bottle store section as well. The shops in the know will be ready for business on Monday morning. So, something else caused the delay to Tuesday.
I think the reason is because the original intention was to allow the SoD to lapse and not renew it. That would have meant all the regs would have just lapsed, including the social distancing etc.
But because it has been extended, it now means the regs have to be updated as well. Hence Monday is needed for all this paperwork.
Apart from myBB not knowing what the dates are and not writing their articles consistently of course.
Couple that with the incredibly poor comprehension skills around and we end up with all this apparent confusion.
