Do you think that's doable? I mean this 180 came at such an odd time to make any kind of opposition difficult.
Don't underestimate the Tobacco companies.

I'm not sure what I find worse - the draconian ban or the fact that Big Tobacco will be the only ones capable of protecting our rights.

Then big tobacco will have done a good thing. This power trip is turning into a **** show.

I think the tobacco and alcohol industry in South Africa is finished. They will not lift this again in 2020. Wine and other locally made spirits will be for export only.

I just hope that in the future sometime when government looks at the smouldering ashes of SA from their scorched earth policy that it was all worth it.

Tourism will be pretty much dead in years to come.

Tourism will be dead sooner than later.
One just has to look at the airline industry at the moment, and realise there is no way that international flights will ever be cheap again, ticket prices will be far higher after this lockdown than most people will be able to afford for long holidays and leasure travel.

I am just shocked at the tone of Dumbini Zuma. I would call her a b itch, but female K9s dont deserve it.

I might be wrong but I think smoking in the midst of a pandemic is not a good idea. Good move by the government.
I might be wrong but having kids in an overpopulated world is not a good idea. Would be a good move if the government implement a no child policy. esp seeing that they cant afford the sassa grants with this pandimics bailouts.

PS: Its not the goverment's job to replace my parent. There is such a thing as civil rights. Go read Orwell's 1984 to see how this type of thing can turn out... that is if you can read?

The problem here is this, and I don't want to sound alarmist or maybe even a bit too tinfoil hatty...

When a government for whatever reason, is able to exercise unreasonable control over its citizens then anything is possible.
I always think back to recent history and remember Rwanda.

It took just a short while for the government to convince otherwise relatively peaceful people to go around with machetes, and kill their neighbours because they were now deemed to be 'cockroaches.'

The massacre was brutal, prolonged and effective as most of us know.
This was in 1994, when we were heading for peace and prosperity here in SA.

When all was said and done, a million people were dead and those who had been involved didn't quite understand what they'd done nor even why.
When the time came for it all to be understood, these same people begged for forgiveness and they were forgiven.

What I'm getting at here is that a similar scenario could unfold here, and when it's all over the world would forgive everyone involved. It'll be just another bad memory in the history books.

Very, very dangerous times in a country that has been on the brink for a long time.

82000 babies have been born in SA since the lockdown.
With the new grant that's around R850 a child now (for 6 months anyway).
That's 70 million Rand a month...

You are sounding very alarmist despite your good intentions, Lew Skannen level alarmist.
