Yup can see who you voted for.You must of been one of the 2000 that opposed the lifting of the ban on cigarettes.
The whole thing smacks of dictatorship and communism at it's best.

Just overthinking without any scientific proof on the matter... Should be a minister.

Carl says no cigs - can we have a collective gfy !

ps: wtf does this twat have to do with the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association ?
If there was ever more confirmation that the cigarette is the result of lobbying from the RET brigade connected illicit cigarette traders/manufacturers. The MK and most of the RET faction are beholden to the illicit cigarette industry and get fat off of the kickbacks they probably earn and will probably be receiving bonuses the long this ban goes on.

It's funny how they have officially responded to home made brews but not a pip about the impact of the ban on illicit cigarette trading. That silence is telling.

No I am not one of the 2000. I support the ban on the following grounds:
  1. We are in the midst of a respiratory disease, smoking doesn't seem like a good idea. Now, ordinarily I would say let's leave it up to people to make the right decision, but as this tread has shown, people act like spoilt kids so the government will treat them like kids.
  2. I hate smokers. Most of them are inconsiderate pricks who think the world is thier dust bin for stompies. Also smokers give off a certain whiff which I find disgusting.
  3. Some people have a low self-will. This might just be the push they need to quit.

You should listen to your own self entitlement before you start judging other people. I have a question. Do you close your eyes when you dictate your opinion to other people you consider being lesser than you?

I am not saying that you are stupid, just that you have a lot of bad luck when thinking.

1. So you agree with the constant last minute decisions and backtracking of government policy? I'd personally prefer one that that makes well thought out decisions and sticks to them. A nanny state to you makes a strong government and one which you're proud of? It's an utter disgrace...
2. Never in my life disposed of a stompie other than in the bin... I'll keep it in my pocket and find one if none are available so not sure what you're basing this on, assumptions or?
3. You're right, some people have low self-will, there are desperate people out there that are lacking any motivation in life to carry on forward. Smoking is a coping mechanism which can help them through the day so as to carry on with work / staying at home / whatever they are doing. Evidence is in the many police force members, medical staff and fire fighters who deal with gruesome situations on a daily basis and tend to smoke / drink as a result. Some people use cigarettes for that fact, you honestly think there are no people who will now be pushed to contemplate and carry through with a suicide attempt due to this lack of will power? Guess that's something that you support too yes?

Side note: I barely smoke... Survived fine on 3 boxes during the entire lockdown and rationed them fine until today... I'd like to buy some more and was going to but apparently it's wrong that I smoke from time to time when I feel stressed and should be treated like a child for wanting to? Talk about a high horse.....

Do you think people will send their kids to school when government say ? No petition is required for this instance.
Actually 60% probably would yes, a large majority of workers would need someone to look after their kids, grandma can't anymore.

The one thing that is very evident from the back to school plan, is that the people coming up with the plan are totally divorced from the reality of the education system in this country.
