Probably does not belong in this thread, but anyway, I may have given some idea to the situation my wife and her workforce finds them in these days. Apart from the apartheid era dompass road blocks - today she had her top performing employee in anything but good spirits. She had a quiet word with her and learned she was concerned about her mother back in EC. In the past week her brother, a tik-kop, made his way back home to mom and last night had a bit of triply episode which ended in much of the house being destroyed come early morning.

Her mom was going to get some sort of restraining order but at the end of the day she could not get an update on the situation. I guess the cops are too busy pulling over people with no masks or a bottle of wine in their boot.

Bheki, the ANC - this is you - failing those very soles that voted for you.

Interesting Freudian slip?!?

The Constitutional Court in Johannesburg was cleverly designed. It has a window, big enough to see the feet of the people walking past, but small enough to hide everything from the knees down.
Its purpose?
To remind the judges of the soles of the feet of the fools citizens that it serves.

Anyone of the conspiracy theorists care to share their view on why the supposed beneficiaries of NDZ's ban on cigarettes are taking the government to court for the ban?

You don't need to do the same level of testing to compare countries. You can just compare deaths and full hospitals vs empty ones.
Agree on your first but but not your second.
In short the comparisons invoked by the president are nonsensical and an attempt to support their decision making processes, or justify them.

The only rational comparison is Italy has almost the same population number as we do, it ends there.
Italy also has just over 200 people / square km, we are at 50, 4 times less densely populated across our land mass.
Italy also has a much older population which places them more at risk as we have been told with a mean age of 48 years old. In SA that is 28.

You cant use them as a comparison as he did. I'm happy our deaths rates are low, very happy, but with the limited amount of testing that has been done we really do not have a good picture of infections. As testing slowly ramps up this is going to increase. (infections)
You have all seen the news reports about how positive results are rising rapidly over the last few days.
This doesn't bode well for any relief in lockdown measures and the rise is at least partly attributed to the higher test rate from a very very low base.

Argue case badly, get precedent set by ruling, everyone else loses by default. *

* actual facts may vary
Good point, knowing government they are going to go to town on the lawyers, there won't be any room for AA/BEE mediocrity.

That is like asking why JZ was so vocal about dealing with corruption , and zero tolerance for it, if he was the most implicated.
No, it isn't, Mazzotti is just not being vocal about it, he is going to court, but good attempt, let's hear what the other conspiracy theorists say.

If you pay attention to the structure of the court case... even though its being punted as being around the cigarette ban. The first issue to be heard is whether they can class themselves as Agri business (from what I can gather) so they can run their manufacturing lines... I would hazard a guess that they are running low on stock and need to be able to step up operation to make more to meet the demand and to slow the flow of illicit brands from over the border.

How pissed off would cigarette smokers be if weed becames legal to buy before cigarettes.
I was a smoker for 17 years, it's in the same category has List A drugs in my OPINION
It is nasty stuff there is no doubt.

I definitely disagree with the ban , because its totalitarian in every way

I used the off time from lockdown and unavailability of cigarettes to quit for good.

If you dont stop smoking now , when will you?

Who would have thought the first logical and rational answer would come from a non conspiracy theorist, seems most are just happy to spew a lot of nonsense but are nowhere to be found when it comes to defending the nonsense.

Is there anything about the actual sale of cigarettes in their court challenge? Because it does not make sense why they would self sabotage like that if the status quo suits them.

Manufacturing is the big issue. If you can make cigarettes they will sell themselves, out the back door and under the table if needs be.

Oh I am a conspiracy theorist on this front. I think NDZ is playing dirty bloody games that are financially benefiting her backers and screwing the country at the same time. I am also of the opinion that there are retarded power games at play that are screwing the country up.

But whatever power games are being played could result in the ban on the sales of cigarettes lifted and Mazzotti's bringing his own honeymoon to an end? I guess that's the thing about conspiracy theories, the less sense they make, the better.

That logical thing is in the court case. Maybe you should've said that you don't feel like reading it, so can someone give you the facts.
Also , its conspiracy theory, only if there are no facts about who owns what and who sells it. That was never even debated.

His cigarettes have always been on sale, x5 times cheaper than the legal ones. But if there is no manifacturing , or raids on the stock ,no one can cash out.
