His cigarettes have always been on sale, x5 times cheaper than the legal ones. But if there is no manifacturing , or raids on the stock ,no one can cash out.

He does both from what I know...

Ciggies on the cheap, and then the legal stuff where he pays the relevant excise duties etc...

He makes his money either way, but of course being "legal" removes SARS from his back and he does still owe them a fat chunk of change...

But whatever power games are being played could result in the ban on the sales of cigarettes lifted and Mazzotti's bringing his own honeymoon to an end? I guess that's the thing about conspiracy theories, the less sense they make, the better.

Things is if you look at things in a very 2 dimensional light (you make illegal smokes or you make legal) then the conspiracy theories make very little sense.

If you realise things are considerably more complicated than the basic 2 dimensional things, then the conspiracy theories (for this at least) start to make sense as they can fit reality relatively well.

So what you are saying is that he has made enough money and he is now happy to lift the ban for the others?

OR he hasn't made enough money and needs to spin up his manufacturing ability to provide more stock into the market, be it black or legal.

Or that his stock is running low and now needs to manufacture stock again...

Or that he’s simply being a goodwill champion as the heat is increasing so he’d like to paint a picture which highlights how he is being affected, although people in almost every province can purchase his cigarettes today...

No , what I said is that if there is no production , there is no profit. And that he made good enough profit , even when cigarettes were legal

Let's not pretend as if he is not the big dog of FITA, he is one of the founders of FITA. If he is influential enough to have the ear of NDZ then we can only surmise that his influence within FITA is also very considerable.

One thing is for sure, this Mazzotti/NDZ conspiracy theory is the most complicated theory we've ever had to analyze, I know it's easy for you guys but my head is still spinning from the complexity.

I am happy to admit that it is just too higher grade for me.

Years of corruption with zero accountability will put all decisions under scrutiny. The fact that government flip flopped on tobacco and their seemingly uncaring attitude as to how much tax revenue has been lost means that people are trying to see what the angle is here... Black market cigarettes sales are seemingly booming so people ask the logical question, what is the ban actually doing other than enriching black marketeers?

Political analysts also believe the implementation and reversal of certain regulations, such the regulation prohibiting tobacco sales, may have been used as part of a larger political agenda.

Two of the country's high-profile advocates, Nazeer Cassim SC and Erin-Dianne Richards, also expressed concern last week that the rise of the NCCC posed serious possible constitutional and democratic risks.

What do they mean possible?
It's already happening. People are being arrested after their Legally bought alcohol and cigarettes were confiscated.
Government is searching everyone handbags on roadblocks, arresting people who tried to buy food or medicine. Killing one for having beer on his property.
