@thechamp While I'm not sure what is really going on I keep feeling like what we're seeing is this pandemic being used as the vehicle to transport and deliver someone else's agenda. That fact that the ANCWL attacked BAT for their BBBEE quotas is no coincidence.

You must remember that for the ANC, BBBEE is the Holy Grail. Literally any decision that make, every speech, every law and restriction is there to further that cause.

My own personal theory on the mattery? Use a lockdown to annihilate thousands of non BEE compliant businesses. And in this war for Economic Transformation, provide relief funding for BEE compliant businesses if they big/successful enough and simply let the smaller ones go bust as collateral damage in the war against WMC/Non BEE compliance.

Lockdown, stalled economy could mean tax loss of up to R285bn - Kieswetter

The commissioner of the SA Revenue Service, Edward Kieswetter, has warned that the combined impact of SA's struggling economy and the lockdown could mean a loss of up to R285 billion in tax revenues this year.

"Whilst it is early days, our revenue losses could be peaking at between 15% and 20% lower [than projections]. That translates to a revenue loss of up to R285 billion," Kieswetter told a joint meeting of two Parliamentary committees on Tuesday.

The commissioner would not be drawn on the politics or the rational behind the lockdown, but said many of the jobs lost and businesses closed during lockdown would not be regained once the pandemic recedes.

"It takes 100 businesses ... to create one successful business. So for every one we lose, we will have to have a hundred if not more entrepreneurs to take the risk [to start a new business]."

He said the SARS also had "clear evidence" that the illicit economy was thriving.
