Today the linksfield tower has been going off and on roughly every hour for most of the morning but I have the vague suspicion (and hope) that they have upgraded the firmware or something because I am flying right now. Averaging 15K and peaking in the high 20's. Pings seem a lot lower as well.

Could sentech be doing something right?

Mostly peer to peer though. Anything reccommended?

Inevitable, aren't you also on linksfield? Do you also suddenly have speed?

Bit torrent is my p2p of choice.

Might have spoken to soon but still seems fairly fast.

I just downloaded about 45mb in around just over an hour

Oh okay, I am in linksfield proper and can see the tower from my house. I actually tried to get bedfordview but couldnt get it.

Still pumping out bandwidth for some reason. Maybe everyone decided to turn off their pcs.

Something has been done...

I'm getting over 14KB/s at the moment. On p2p (bearshare/gnutela) I can max out. On http on a single file download from tucows I can get 6-8KB/s, but with multiple files from DOWNLOAD.COM (yes international!) I can max out at 14-15KB/s. Last week I could only get about 2KB/s from tucows and less internationally.

Pings are better (100-180ms), but I'm still getting about 5-10% packet loss.

Maybe the long awaited "solution" to the speed problem is here?!

MW128, Tower 50 (Northpark Plaza), Signal:12%,S-N-L: 5, BER: 40%

Inevitable, How old are you?

Do any of you know which tower is the actual linksfield tower? I have narrowed it down to two but cant quite work it out yet.

The forums have been way quiet for the last few days. Actually quiet isnt quite right but people have been bitching about billing rather than speeds.

Could something be happening in mordor?

Signal just improved in last half hour on streaming audio, go here and compare pics http://www.unrealza.co.za/proasm/wireless/towers.html to see if its like this one.

Well then you can certainly drink.

I think its either the one right above King David school or its a little further down the ridge going towards Louis Botha. Obviously I dont have the GPS equipment or the inclination to go and work it out. Can anyone confirm my assumptions?

Sitting at the M&A on Club street I get a decent signal so I make the assumption its the one by the school.
