Revived SAA draws attention of banks

South Africa’s state airline is being approached by banks keen to discuss lending the carrier money, aided by a turnaround in the company’s finances, interim CEO John Lamola said.

South African Airways needs to finance a growth strategy that envisages its fleet more than doubling to 43 planes over the next five years.

And this will end badly as anything to do with the cadres does.

The banks deserve every loss they get - got for it banks.

Maybe SAA should be forced to repay the money stolen by the ANC to prop up the SAA for all those years, The taxpayer needs to demand their money back... the ANC do nothing that will not generate them a personal income.

or that they are stupid and believe the whole lies about the GNU
maybe they will buy Post office and SABC shares next.

Loans will all be guaranteed with taxpayer money. Win win for the banks and SAA to continue looting.

People never learn, especially when it comes to SOEs. One year in the black, and suddenly they're ready to trust them again...

Its nice to see some people with clear reasoning on here. Wish that the majority had an IQ of above 69.

Hoe dom en onnosel kan mens kry. They'll throw money after an entity with a proven failed track record but ask for a few k to start up a business with good prospects and they want you to put up the whole house as collateral. Hulle almal kan gaan fokof.

do you think brown envelopes were given out to ensure banks trusted SAA again, as I find it hard to belive they are now a trusted SOE with money again, or have they gotten better at hiding?

I'll take it with a grain of salt. IQ tests are set up to favour certain learned characteristics so individuals that score high in one country can score poorly in another. Those in industrialised countries certainly don't favour countries where people rely on basic survival skills. They are not an indication of someone's innate abilities.

Also, to make it big, requires cunning, not IQ. We know this... when you have people like Fikile Mbalula and Uncle Gweezy running important things in a country and running them into the ground, literally, it is clear that IQ is not anything remotely required.

Smart people, when they schlenter, do it smartly and do not get caught.
Dumb stupid asses, like our leaders, do it and get caught and carry on boldly because their culture tells them "its their right" to steal

Wouldnt put 1 c into SAA.

Havent flown SAA in 29 years .
Used all the others.

The thing with our "leaders" are they viewed it as their right to loot and plunder what they saw as theirs because of "past injustice" so they didn't even try to cover their tracks and relied on their buddies who did the same to just ignore it. The house of cards have come tumbling down and the chickens have roosted, everyone knows who the corrupt ones are.
