What an awesome speech he gave, don't think it'll rival his victory speech but very powerful nonetheless. He is definitely going to make waves and is exactly what this world needs in times like these. So many people were moved to tears after his speech, I even had lumps in my throat at certain parts of his speech.

Thoughts?

I noticed a thing though. He said that "the people who cause terror and kill innocent people shall be stopped" (or words to that effect.)

Is that not hypocritical?

Maybe he intends to stop them on both sides of the Atlantic :p ... seriously.

We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents

Awesome speech. But from tomorrow comes the near impossible task of pulling the US out of the mess they are currently in.

If it was up to me i would have rather have had a more established and tested leader to steer them out of the mess. Obama with all his eloquence simply doesnt have much experience, and 9 out of 10 times experience matters. Being a president is often about choosing the lessor of two evils. More established leaders know this, and his lofty ideals will probably get put on the backburner when this reality hits. But you never know, maybe he can pull it off. It would be cool.

Early days still but a great speech all the same. I'm a big fan of Obama and I wish him all the best as his time as president.

He and Justice Roberts ****ed up the oath royally.

Aretha Franklin sucked big time.
The musical quartet played something without any semblance of tune.
The poet ... What the hell was that!!!

Obama's speech was great though.

Thankfully that twit Gee Whiz Bush heads off into the sunset.

Let's hope that this new fellow can paddle the USA out of the **** creek Gee Whiz paddled them into, but who knows.

Must suck to be alantjie today, agreed LOL! :D But don't worry - from tomorrow you can start with the "I told you so" refrain LOL.

I said 9 out of 10 times. We may very well be living through a 1 out of 10 moment. But its simply too early to tell. Most of the time, however, experience counts. It counts even more when you going through one of the lowest points in the last 100 years and you have made capaign promises which call for mass change. It's going to take a genius, but will an inexperienced genius pull it off. The answer is, probably not. Like i said, i would have prefered an "experienced" reformer.

People who lived during the JFK era wisely say he was more of an idea than anything. Remember he only served for 2 years before he was assassinated.

The media is blowing smoke and not reminding itself of the facts.

A crack team of Jack Bauer, Steven Seagal, and Vernon Koekemoer would find it tough to paddle out of the current mess, and i'm not even including the mass reform goals.
