Yeah. Soon as I heard about the noise and the bramble I hit the off switch on the radio.

Yeah lol i walked away. After the beauty and eloquence which was the obama speech, the poet was a let down. Shame, but i can't imagine anything being harder than standing on that podium. Even Obama was nervous.

the musical number by John Williams kinda sounded like a funeral dirge. I was disappointed.

If you play or have ever tried to play an instrument, just watching the master musicians at work was enough. Those dudes were pretty good.

Obama is seen as the savior of a world in crisis.

What people don't realise is that Obama is no magician. The content of his bailout plan, the economic team in charge, his optimistic announcement about job creation (going from 2.5 million to 4 million in a matter of a few weeks without particular explanation) and his reluctance in taking into account that the fact that furthering US deficits is impossible, suggests that he will come in far below the expectations he has created in 2009... and this is only in the USA, never mind the rest of the world who thinks he's going to pull rabbits out of a hat for billions in need around the world, when in fact, his own country's economy is collapsing.

By the end of the year, Obama's public image as the "man with a plan" will have long gone, and the realism that the world in crisis can't be fixed by one savior alone will have sunk in as reality.

Until then, it's all peaches and roses. :)

What a powerful speech; I listened to every word. The man is not without promise, and it's backed up by a plan to get there.

While I was listening to his speech, I went to their transition website , www.change.gov , where his plans were outlined in detail. It's there for all to see, so at least he can be held accountable.

As for the White House site, http://www.whitehouse.gov/, it must now be one of the most transparent, and accessible-to-all, government sites that I've seen so far - it was changed immediately after his inauguration.

And Picard, the poem was very much in keeping with the theme of the day, that's if you actually cared to listen to it. As for the musical item, it was an air on the Shaker tune Simple Gifts; if you had listened carefully, you would've picked up the theme in there. I play an instrument myself, so much respect to the guys who performed the piece; they're masters of their art ( the violinist is a world-renown artist by the way)
