Hope everyone has their exit strategy planned!
At my high school you paid a book levy which was a fraction of the cost of the actual books. Then you got your textbooks for the year and had to sign for them. At the end of the year you handed them back.I've put 2 kids through government schools, ok one is still at high school, and I never knew the government gave text books????
At the end of the year the school gives you a list and you have to buy the books.... I thought it was like that for everyone until this text book saga broke out.

And if your own exercise books weren't covered then you'd be in the dwang too.
