Battling to get upgraded to telkom VDSL

I live in Thorn Valley Estate the Greenstone Hill area and I'm on a 4mb/s ADSL line. I want to get upgraded to a 40mb/s VDSL line but when I try to order it they say I can only get 4mb/s ADSL. I know that I can get VDSL because there was a power surge in December 2014 at the remote exchange at Emerald Estate which blew up one of the cards on the DSLAM so I was without ADSL for a few days...

Anyway I went there to see if someone was sorting out the problem and I spoke to the technician who was working in the exchange. I asked him about the foundation for the MSAN outside and wondered if I would be able to get VDSL? He said the MSAN should be installed in the beginning of the year. He asked if I knew what the distance of my copper line. I said it was about 750-800m (based on what I could measure on Google Earth). "Well then you can get the full 40 meg"

Before anyone asks when I had my Telkom land line installed in 2013 I asked the technician how the cable was routed and which exchange I was connected to.

I left the country to do some work in the UK. While I was there I asked my family to just check if the MSAN had put down. They checked in August 2015 and it was there. I tried to get the ball rolling knowing how long it would take Telkom to get me connected. I was due to come back in late December 2015. So I tried to TelkomZA on Twitter to help me out. They would speak to the Technical Department and I never heard anything.

Since I have gotten back I have tried to get someone to help but no one at Telkom seems to care. I even contacted the network planner in Greenstone from Telkom ( the story of how I got that number is for another thread) still no joy.

I even bought a VDSL capable router while I was in the UK (ASUS DSL-N66U which runs very well).

There's a total disconnect between the infrastructure in the ground and what the coverage map shows. You phone the call centre and they just go with what "the system" tells them and nothing else. And every time I direct message @TelkomZA they just say they will follow up and nothing comes of it. They are still looking into it.

What annoys me more than anything is that the current DSLAM I'm on is less than 5 metres from where the MSAN is located.

I'm honestly just going to go to the body corporate and propose a FTTH solution as there is a Dark Fibre Africa backbone running just out the entrance to the estate. Just want the VDSL till I can get that going but it seems getting VDSL will not happen anytime soon. Telkom just doesn't see that they are loosing customers because of their incompetence.

Can someone please help because I'm running out of ideas. I have even logged a fault online just to get a technician out.
I can supply my line stats if anyone wants them.

So there's my long story.

i hear you loud and clear about the disconnect between what the coverage map says and what telkom is capable of doing.. in my area they say i can have a 10meg line, but in reality i can barely get a stable 2 meg line. .:(

your line stats will tell a lot about how far you are and what quality you looking at copper wise.

UPDATE

Managed to speak to a Telkom Technician in the Area. Said it was decided that my Estate would be connected to a different MSAN down the road as the one we were supposed to be connected to would not have enough ports for all three estates. They need to reroute the copper wiring in distribution cabinet (Green cabinet) to the other MSAN.
