BCX’s scary warning to employees

The planned staff cuts will add further to employees’ worries, and BCX now runs the risk of losing its most productive employees who are not keen to hang around to find out if they will be fired.
No doubt, if not already. It won't take talented staff more than a month to find alternative employment in most cases. Anyone doing business with them is at serious risk of security breaches and data leaks with this transition.

Didn't they recently retrench themselves? In which case they have to give first preference to the people they let go.
36 months after right?
Also depends on the position of the person retrenched.

I wonder if EOH will start trying to poach people.

EOH not doing great either at the moment with some good staff having left already.
DD also lost a good few people (sadly) but their overseas branches are hiring so opportunity for people trying to get out of SA :)

Meanwhile Stortech got some good people joining so it's the usual swings and roundabouts.........

Sadly this type of thing will lead to the good people leaving, while the dead wood in the organisation will end up staying in the organisation.

I think BCX can't get away from the government and Telkom stigma.

I thought they were doing well after I saw that huge building they built not so long ago opposite the Centurion mall.

yet, they spend millions, at golf tournaments and on fancy lunches for their executives.

and for a colleague of mine who recently left BCX, his pension of 14 years.

so evil companies, going to stay evil.

No, they are not evil. The merge has made a lot of staff redundant, and now they have to sadly let go of people. BCX however is in dire need of high level technical skills. I know a lot of companies that have shortages of highly skilled people. If your job is under pressure and you are worried about being made redundant, it is time to reconsider skilling up into something else.

And this is due to its biggest client's financial success, wouldn't you say ;)

In part - for sure.

But it's not just money; DD can afford decent salaries but the opportunities don't seem to be there right now.

Opportunities in SA, sadly. Markets outside of mobile telecomms is shrinking imo. This is not the end of these retrenchments.

So why did they build that massive building that the whole of Centurion can see... Wasted so much money on that building.

I was thinking the same thing, and that was not too long ago. But what does BCX actually do? Are they an international company or mostly local?

While I do feel bad for those who risk loosing their income at the same time I think what can I do to prevent something similar from happening to me. Many times I guess it is just out of your control and the powers that be get to decide your fate. That said, if you spend your time getting to know the core components of the business you are involved with and you are not afraid to put a little extra in to get there - it goes a long way toward job security.

They are already renting out half of that building to try and cover costs.

A building is not an idle asset. Redundant employees are. It sounds very harsh, but that's the reality of what happened there.

The are similar to DD, but on a smaller scale.
