Be careful when going to court with a traffic offence.

This happened a while ago but I decided to share this with the internet community.

I was on my way back from varsity listening to music and unaware of the speed I was doing, naturally at the most unexpected moment I was stopped by a traffic officer.

I rolled down my window and scrambled for my wallet to produce my drivers licence.
The traffic officer went about his routine and started to write my fine, he asked me want my profession was and I told him I was a student. On that note the traffic officer “Took pity” on me and asked me how much money I had on me, obviously being a student I had a few coins – enough for a burger for supper. As I had no money the officer saw if fit to ask this superior (who was sitting in the passenger seat in the car in front) for advice. He requested to see me, I walked towards the car to the officer in the passenger seat and he started talking to me (The other officer was in the back), clearly the officer found it “Wrong” that I was standing, so he said”Excuse me, who do you think you are? Kneel down if you want to talk to him”. I did so and was subjected to the speeding speech and warned that if they caught me on that road again they would not be as lenient.

A few weeks after that travelling towards varsity on the right hand lane of a dual carriage way a golf flew past me on the left, I had I little grin on my face as I was certain they would still be trapping on that road. To my surprise, I was stopped AGAIN!
I rolled down the window for the officer and the first words out his mouth were “do you remember me?” clearly this was the same officer from the last time. I demanded to see the trapping equipment to ensure that they had trapped the correct car as I was still “licking my wounds” from the last time and was certain I did not exceed the speed limit. I walked towards the equipment and it only displayed the speed and did not indicate what car it was.

Adamant that I was not speeding I decided to go to court.

I went to court and pleaded my case, I told the whole story as I wrote above.

To my shock, the officer had three of his colleagues there as witnesses and I had no one.

Not only did I have a lack of eye-witnesses the officer conveniently changed the location of where the fine took place to reflect a road that only had a single carriageway!!!!!!!!!

Naturally, the odds were not in my favour and putting the “facts” together, the judge found it easy to decide on the matter.

I was told “my story was fabricated and that he should teach me a lesson”

I was escorted by a police officer until I was able to produce the R2000 fine I was made to pay. Luckily, for me, once I went outside to wait for the money we were not allowed back in the court because it was lunchtime as the officer was adamant to put me in the holding cells.

YA!

So im sorry if I do not agree with the justice system or our traffic officers.
I'm sure all officers are not corrupt but you only need to taste a rotten egg once to be put off for life!

1.) I would not get on my knees for anyone.
2.) Where is the photographic proof, surely that is required?
3.) I generally don't stop - they have a habit of pointing at the floor in SA to stop you - I can't see what you're pointing at - so I just drive, chase if you will.

Good point xrapidx, just difficult to do that when you brought up in a small Christian community.
