Good news about expired driver's licence cards in South Africa

South African insurers Momentum Insure, King Price, and OUTsurance say driving and being in an accident with an expired driver’s licence card won’t necessarily make your claim null and void.

Instead, each claim is validated on its own merits and considerations. Issues such as roadworthiness are far more crucial in motor vehicle accident claims.

just go and renew it and send them that proof...all that's required

Thought it was the rule that it doesn't matter because by law licenses don't expire, only the cards do.

As long as all parties involved are licensed, then it is a moot point.

Sure until you in an accident and the claims are over 1 Million Rand then they have a different tune and find ways out if it.

It never was an issue IMO. The issue Insurers will have is when the vehicle isn't roadworthy, which will include an expired licence disc.

An expired licence card does not mean you became incompetent to drive suddenly at that expiry date.
I simply refuse to pay for Schabir Shaik and his ANC cronies. I pay enough tax as it is, and this is why I refuse to renew the piece of shyte. I still have my driver's license in my old ID book kept in the safe. It's a little bit tatty but not bad
