Cape Town - Following a video (watch below) that went viral on Monday of a fight between two golfers in a bar at a Gauteng golf club, the club in question has issued an apology.

The incident took place at Lake Club Benoni's Club Championship prize giving over the weekend, after, judging by the footage, it appeared one golfer had accused a fellow player of cheating.

The accused did not take kindly to the insinuation and marched over to his accuser and head-butted him, before throwing a series of punches.

The accuser fell, breaking a window in the process, before a woman intervened, bringing an end to the brutal attack.

Keepin' it classy.

Is that on the second floor of the building? If so things almost got really hairy there.

Sometimes very unsavoury characters find their way to the golf course, I am sure this is an isolated incident.

I came in to say fckng savages, but after seeing the video, sorry, that old toppie seem to have been looking for an opfok. Hopefully he will now learn when to STFU.

Who says...where you there? Maybe the other party was cheating.

That level of aggression toward an elderly person is seldom justified, and certainly not in this case for being called a cheat????

Whatever happened to public reprimand or chastisement.

Oh I forgot, consumption of liquor is involved....as is usually the case in these scenarios.

The opfokker seem to also be an old ballie, you cannot just go around accusing people of things without expecting consequences. Especially not in a bar, at his age his should've known better. No sympathy, sorry.

Not surprised the guy reacted badly, people take those golf competitions very seriously and there are plenty of opportunities to "improve you ball position" if as it where (if you are dishonesst), no excuse for getting physical though.

No excuse for getting physical, if he doesn't like the accusation he can take it up with the club... Also, how do you know he wasn't in fact cheating?

Do you have a more effective method of reprimandation to suggest?
