As the title reads I am looking for the best and cheapest (I know those words don't go well together :wtf: ) tablets for my two daughters - 6 and 8. They continuously argue over who gets to play my iPad and wifes phone ect so thought will put an end to it and get them a little cheapy android one.

Main use will be playing their kiddies games and watching movies. Movies will be watched via Netflix or Movies copied over to device. They really don't need a FHD screen or anything like that.

Anyone have any advice? I see TakeAlot have the MSI Enjoy 7 Plus for R999 but then the Geek in me sees the terrible display and cringes but surely that should be fine for what they need? Also remember they are young so sticky fingers and the occasional drop will be in the winning tablets future.

Thanks in advance.

Are they going to share it?

No, sorry forgot to mention will buy them each one. They both like different movies and games. They a Pi setup in their room with Plex but they like laying in their beds and watching it on the iPad but am not going to even consider getting them iPads at their age. That is why looking for the cheapest I can find but must be able to playback movies and Netflix ect - so access to Play Store.

Cheap tablets are all pretty much the same in the R1K range and they all have sucky screens. But for a small child, do they care.

I would say its important to find a cover for them so look at deals that include that. A secondary feature is a camera, girls love cameras.

The reality is that if you want quality, your going to need to buy an iPad so if your not going to buy them iPads, then just overlook the shortcomings of the R1K models and go that route.

Here is one for R999 from Incredible including a carry bag:

I always buy online from Incredible and very good service. Same tablet from Hifi is R1300 (http://www.hificorp.co.za/product/1041343/sansui-tablet-7-with-wifi-only/)

Thanks for that will have a look.

Yeah I know the screen resolution will be terrible - all i need to do is remind myself that I will not be the one using it. I am not even considering buying them iPads yet as they are still young. Will just go the R1k tablet route and I know they will be happy.

Need to see if the Sansui will be able to get updated and install netflix etc but doesn't look to bad.
That looks good but my only concern is the custom skinned rom and whether I will be able to access the normal play store and install Netflix etc.
It's not the custom rom that will block you but rather the geo restriction on Google Play Store. You can however circumvent that by downloading the api's here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392504

CNA has tablets in the sub 1K range can get it 6 months interest free credit (since you buying 2)
Though i highly doubt any of them will be compatible with netflix with regard to plex there are plex apps for android

Yeah this is how I got the Netflix and Hulu (and a few Sky ones too) working on my Note 3 so not too worried about getting the apps working. more worried about getting a tablet that doesn't allow me access to Play Store to purchase the other games they normally play.

Thanks will have a look at what they offer. I am pretty sure they will be able to run Netflix if I sideload the API's as I did for my Note 3. But suppose need to make extra sure before I go buy them.

With regards to Plex - I have a Plex server running but not too keen to add Plex for them on the tablets as they will then have access to all the content - whereas with Netflix, I have created them a "Kids" profile and thus only have access to kids shows which is perfect. I'd rather then get a SDcard and load that with local movies for when Netflix is not accessible.

if loading movies directly on the tab get handbrake and use the Android Mid profile and convert the files, thats what i did they videos play great on the tab

I think I have narrowed it down to two for now:

MSI ENJOY 7 - R999
or
Prestigio PMP3970B - R1099

I think I am leaning towards the Prestigio as it seems the specs are ALOT better and only R100 difference or am I mistaken? Your thoughts on either of these?
