Best and cheapest tablet for 6 year old

I was going to get my daughter a tablet for Christmas but ended up upgrading the wifes phone.

I took her old phone (galaxy s+) and flashed to Cyanogenmod so I could put all games on it.
Daughter happy, wife happy and my daughter can now get something else for Christmas.

Does anyone know if TakeAlot offer some sort of Price Match / beater? I see they offer the Prestigio as well for R1699 and have stock where Khalari have it for R1099 but expect dispatch in 8 days depending on supplier. Any know maybe?

Give us some feedback on the Prestigio. There's also currently a Takealot coupon in the Takealot Vouchers thread. You could double the discount on two separate purchases.

Will do. Still tossing between the Prestigio for R1099 or the Gobii for R1399. Still can't convince myself that the extra R300 x2 is worth it. Have emailed Kalahari as well asking if they are going to put them on sale again but haven't heard back yet.

If the Gobii has a 1280 screen that will make a very big difference. So it would definitely be 'worth it' for another r300.

Yeah I thought about that but remember my kids are 6 and 8 so don't know if they will worry too much about it. The Prestigio is 1024x600 - far from the best but still better than the other "cheap" tablets that have a 800x480 screen.

Yes but the simple question of whether it's worth the additional r300 is that yes, it can definitely justify the additional expense. In fact I've never come across a tablet with such a low price tag and a 1280 screen. Whether it's what you want to get for your son, I don't know that's up to you.

My wife had one of those Prestigio's. Its horribly slow!!!

We sold it, which, in hindsight was actually a stupid idea because now we're looking at a tablet as a christmas prezzie for our 6 year old :p

The latest model is much better than the previous model, from what I have seen(2 customers have them. one the old, one the new) New one seems more stable and faster than the older version

Yeah the new one apparently is much better than the older one. The one Musica is selling is the older one which is why I didn't even bother looking at it when I went shopping yesterday. The new one has a much better CPU, screen, double the RAM etc. Even tho I know it won't be any where near as fast as my iPad, for what my daughters will use it for I am sure it will be perfect - they will just watch movies, netflix and games - nothing to hectic and definitely no web browsing etc.
