E l i m e n t a l s . . . dude ... get the NOTE! That screen is made for games. Just do it. I will look away and make as if I didn't see it. :D

He's reluctant to go bigger than 4.3" and you want him to get a 5.3"??? Hahaha...

For me it's an impossible choice. Note is too big.. anything less than 5 inch is fine. which means s3 vs one x. one x battery scares me. s3 pentile display scares me. coming from desire.. any thoughts?

Don't be so intimidated by size ... it's the size that scares you ... go big or go home ... :D

Well I ordered my Xperia S

3 reasons:
  • 12 MP camera with dedicated shutter button.
  • HDMI support (Can use any Micro HDMI and play my movies/Photo's/Games on my TV)
  • 341 ppi it even kicks the iPhone's retina display in the face on sharpness, not to even mention the Bravia Engine.

Also I like the look, its 4.3" (I dont want a tablet that can dial, thank you very much) and I am looking at getting me a Smartwatch as well.

Currently on HTC Desire HD thats single core 1Ghz, so 1.5 dual core should be more than enough as I don't have problems on my old phone or a need to up CPU yet, Oh and it actually looks cool. not like the HTC One's dated design :)

That sounds promising - even 4.3 will be quite a jump for me coming from a Desire Z with a 3.7.

Now that I have a tablet I realise that I don't need the phone to do the email, FB, twitter, browsing stuff any longer.

What I do need is

  • Fast, good camera with shutter button
  • Reasonable battery life
  • Enough space (or memory card) for media
  • Nice and light

LOL @ BeVonk!

Dude I promise you, I was at Vodacom again today and the Note does not have my name on it :)
I must admit I have not seen the Xperia S in real life so probably taking a chance but something in the looks just begs me to get one.

Yes it has its draw backs so its not perfect either but as I have mentioned it ticks all the blocks I am looking for. Oh and here is a Vid review from Phone Arena : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4HLniX86fE

PS: Size is not everything, its what you do with it that counts.... or thats what people seem to lead on :p

What I do need is

  • Fast, good camera with shutter button
  • Reasonable battery life
  • Enough space (or memory card) for media
  • Nice and light
  • Camera its got, in fact most reviews says only the pureview from Nokia beat it in this phone space.
  • Reasonable battery life well thats the problem with 4.3" phones as they dont leave loads of space for battery
  • It comes with 32gig which I think is enough, I use a 16 gig SD on my curent phone so the lack of SD card slot is not gonna bother me you might wanna look at that
  • Erm its not, 144g makes it one of the heavier kids around.

@BeVonk and others, can you update the Note to ICS? What are the rumours surrounding the development and release of the next Note, if at all? My wife does photography, and I am considering the Note for her. I think it will stand her in good stead to have her portfolio with her at all times, just big enough to display to potential clients on the go, and with such a vibrant display, no less...is my thinking correct?

I wonder when the packages/price of the Samsung Galaxy SII will be falling?

Official ICS not available yet but soon. Custom ICS firmware is available but I won't go there in your case. Mike Smit is running custom ICS and can comment on that. The Note will work better than any other phone for showing a portfolio to clients but you should consider a tablet for this also.

1. Camera - tick
2. Battery - tick
3. 32 gig - tick
4. 144g < 180g (current phone) - tick
5. ICS - tick

Looks like I found my new phone :D

Agreed... I have just broken away from my Note. Been playing Defense Zone HD for a straight 6.5 hours. Quick shower then onto the XBox for some MW3. And then some more Defense Zone HD before sleep.
Life is sooooo hard at 40 :D

Thing is when I play em games I normall play on the Xperia Play or will use HDMI on TV + PS3 controller so again, Xperia S wins :)

Oh and I will have full access to Playstation Store, that includes all the PS titles and will have access to all the games created for the PS vita via the new PS SDK.
