Going through the various threads I see there have not been many comments on this topic recently.Would like some advice here please guys. Could I use 2 antivirus programmes at the same time without them conflicting with each other or the Windows Firewall ?

Have been using Avast for quite a while but seem to have some or other nasty infection at the moment.My biggest problem is when my teenage son is doing school projects he doesn't read properly and just clicks,clicks, clicks which makes me want to slap,slap,slap :mad:Will reinstall but won't give him the Administrator password.

"School projects" is that what they call it these days? :whistling:

Two antivirus programs is a bad idea.

Eset Nod32 is pretty good (paid). Also, some content filtering might be well required:

+1 for ESET internet security.

Yes, you can, but your computer will be even more slower.

I'm partial to Kaspersky Free.

I'm not worried about what the Russians will do with my data...

I am running Bitdefender currently and it seems to have picked up everything thrown at it thus far.

That being said, I guess I wouldn't know if I had an infection but I haven't had any passwords phished that I know of and Malwarebytes doesn't report any malware missed by BD....

Eset Antivirus

And install an adblocker like Ublock Origin Works on Firefox and Google Chrome.

There too many dodgy adverts linking to who knows what.

We have been using ESET for clients for 12 years and have never had issues (other than the odd 3rd party app compatibility). ESET have a few options available.

* ANTIVIRUS and ANTISPYWARE
* Anti-phishing
* Exploit blocker
* Cloud-Powered Scanning
* Ransomware Shield
* Banking and Payment Protection
* Firewall
* Antispam
* Network Attack Protection
* Botnet Protection
* Parental Control
* Webcam Protection
* Anti-Theft
* Connected Home Monitor
* Secure data
* Password Manager

Same configuration as me. I use Bitdefender Total Security, or Internet Security (whatever I can get for the best price in any given year.) I also use Malwarebytes Free and Super Anti-Spyware, for on-demand scanning just to make sure.

I'm sure the normal Bitdefender Anti-Virus is perfectly fine, but I like having the firewall for a few extra bucks.

I use the Avast anti-virus, works well, top-notch security features and helps to run the scan without creating any hindrance. One thing that I do not like about it is the password manager as it is not fully equipped like other paid ones. If I was asked to choose between BitDefender vs Avast, I would surely recommend going for Avast. Although a bit higher priced than BitDefender but worth the money.
