Hey ya'll,

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the cheapest yet fairly competent overclocking motherboard?

The 6100-939 seems like a risk after reading another post.

I would suggest a good mobo, especially if you want to overclock .... I think you should be able to get a gigabyte one for about R1000

I understand it shouldn't be crap, but want to know if there is one that is one of the cheaper ones in that category, that is still reliable..

How about ASRock? ..the word on the street ;) is that they're ASUS' budget brand ..and ASUS has a well deserved rep for great boards ..and that particular board has a ridiculous amount of flexibility!

gigabyte does not overclock well

instead of buying a big expensive board why not buy a bigger cpu?

Yeah the Biostar 6100-939 is a bit of a risk since there's a batch of them with bad NICs floating around. But if you get one from somewhere that gives you the option of a refund, then I say go for it -- it's actually a very good overclocking board in micro ATX size, and very good value.

Rather avoid gigabyte if you can.
Try the Winfast SK8AA SLI board, should be aroun R1.1K
great overclocker and has all the settings you'll need

What are you suggesting D-Bunny?
DFI - 2V vcore,4V vdimm......
Unfortunately not dirt cheap.I would call a DFI board worth it though.

well that is why i am asking which is the cheapER the still quality overclocking boards, so i can have a budget system, and still oc to attain better performance, ..and be able to spend more cash on a Video Card.
Plus OC'ing interests me.

Likewise DaGGa BuNNy: I didn't say i wanted just cheap ****

Depends on when you need it, I’m moving DOT Information Technology to Boston USA, with Offices in JHB and CT. This way I’ll offer you prices 25% less then you would get from other E-tailers, only delay would be the 4 days shipping.

I can quote you on SA prices from local suppliers now, otherwise from the 1st June the USA prices will be in effect.
