I need to choose a fibre provider for the vumatel connection I signed up for.

I' currently using about 150 gig on my adsl line and I like the ability to swop between a uncapped and capped accounts depending on how shapped the uncapped account is.

Who would you recommend to go with on Vumatel ? Don't think I use more than 300 gig a month. Looking for month to month contract, happy to pay the install and router costs. Not looking to be locked in.

Is worth paying for the additional upload speed ? e.g. go with a 50/50 line vs 50/5

Check us out on www.cisp.co.za one of the first and largest on the network. You don't need the sync unless you are uploading lots of data.

Most people in our suburb are on CISP and very happy.
I am on Crystal Web fibre and also happy.

Firstly, with VUMA fibre, you cannot switch between uncapped and capped accounts as with ADSL. But will let those in the know explain that better. The Capped Accounts on Fibre is not necessary, and dont understand why ISP would even offer it

I am with Cool Ideas, and my line is uncapped and unshapped.

I am on the 50/50 package, and as a gamer, and streamer, the extra R100 is worth it.

Get a Crystal Web uncapped account. It's completely unshaped and nothing but pure awesome!

A friend of mine is on cool ideas and enjoying it too. Stay away from cypher wave (see the which router thread)

I'm on Cool Ideas 50/5 and so far so good (it's been 14 months now). I don't play so no use for the upload for me.

Agree uncapped unshapped is the way to go if you want fibre
Dont waste time on a capped account. People are so use to poor treatement on ADSL that they very quickly fail to realise that your experience and treatment on fibre should not be the same as adsl if you find yourself on a fibre network been treated as if you are on adsl my advise for you guys to find yourself another ISP ASAP.

Unless you're on openserve fibre, in which case you will be treated exactly the same

It may be better to send a DM to PBCool, he was the first person to reply to this thread.

If it's Vuma, there's not much point in talking to CISP until you're commissioned. You can't pre-order an ISP connection. You do it online from the portal once your fibre is up - and it takes a couple minutes.

CISP (cool ideas) is the winner for me.

CrystalWeb had 3 weeks of degraded performance. Not their fault, but still happened. No router. 12 Month Contract for lower prices.
Home-Connect - you can't use your own router. I'm an adult, don't force me to use your hardware.
Afrihost - "normal" and "premium" uncapped. CISP is premium, at home prices.
Can't comment on the rest. I hear Telkom are tanking in terms of performance - why would you even think about going with them in the first place?

Had my fibre installed today. Took the guys about 1 & 1/2 hours including trenching from the wall to the house.
Overall if you know what you doing with your own router, it's a pretty fast and painless experience.
Got a call from Vumatel to book an install on Friday and it was done by today

Went with Cool Ideas 20/2 package - speed test on day one equals what is advertised

Only issue I got now is I have to pay for ADSL till end December
