Best ISP in South Africa revealed

MyBroadband has released its Q4 2020 broadband and ISP report, which shows that Cool Ideas, MTN, and Afrihost are the best Internet service providers (ISPs) in South Africa.

The report is based on 73,058 customer satisfaction ratings from South African broadband users between 1 July and 30 September 2020.

Rain truly belongs at the absolute bottom

+1 to this one. Was not surprised to see them at the bottom of the list.

When I was a rain customer in 2019, I experienced mediocre network speeds in Cape Town. In East London, even getting 1 - 2Mbps is hard for rain. Cancelled the rain for the fibre and have been happy since.

rain isn't drizzling at this point.

Have also cancelled all my Rain SIMs. They're just a Vodacom puppet now.

I'm considering moving to Mind the Speed. Since they haven't gotten many votes, I'm wondering if their high rating is well earned or if they're still too small to have too many issues.

If only you saw the brunette from Vox advertising in constantia today... I vote VOX!

Been with them for more than a year now. Great service and haven't had any downtime so far.

On Vox currently in PLZ...who is a worthy replacement? Considering I'll possibly be throwing Frogfoot to the curb as well.

Frogfoot in Port Elizabeth is basically broken by most accounts. Your issues probably have nothing to do with any ISP. Although I see no sense in using Vox when Cool Ideas and Afrihost are available.

Ditched Rain, they should not be allowed a licence. Moved to MTN fixed via axxess 100+100Gb wow I got 103mb download and similar upload speed today absolutely brilliant.

I know Frogfoot is up to maggots. They have been alright for now, but I was also away for 2 weeks on leave.
But the experience has left a sour taste. I mean, when I say Telkom was infinitely more stable when I was on ADSL I mean it...about 5 issues in 8 years. With Frogfoot it was something like 8 issues in 3 weeks, of which 3 were in the same day.
So I want off them, and I'd look at replacing Vox too. I see they're slipping down the standings as well.

If you are covered by Openserve fibre, it makes infinitely more sense to use that network. I'm fortunate to have both networks as an option. I was looking forward to gigabit fibre but fortunately I waited to see how things played out. Not a chance that I'll switch now.

Yep, remember that every Rand they spend on marketing, is a Rand they are not spending on their network, or their support team.
Fully agree, but ermmmm, what support team?

So our work is in Silverton, Fakkel street, on the upper side. Busy street, not a one block town. Fiber, nada, the copper network there, kaka, Rain 50Mbps, now 10Mbps cause I upgraded to the 10Mbps 24/7 uncapped package. Take the router to Garsfontein where my parents live, max out the 10Mbps. Take it to Olympus where I live, max out the 10Mbps. is it only k@k from Midrand all the way to Cape Town?
