Lightning took out one of my laptops this afternoon. Insurance will hopefully cover it. So I'm looking for a new one. I don't want to land up making a mistake with this purchase like I did when I bought a Packard Bell. So I don't have specific requirements for a spec, but rather requirements for what it needs to do. I'm hoping to get some recommendations based on the following:

Needs to be able to run music production software with low latency
Preferably Full HD
Touch screen would be great to use with my DJing software
Separate graphics cards with HDMI out (mostly for surround out and perhaps a game here and there if I'm absolutely bored)

Hopefully there is something in my price range that will fit the bill. And yes, I know an external sound card will be best but this will be a mobile production machine so I don't want to carry a sound card with me...

You brought a Packard Bell? /s******s :D

Wrt your low latency requirements there are websites out there that benchmark laptops specifically for audio work, I don't have any links for your but google might be useful.

If it was me i would be looking at Dell with extended onsite warranty but I have no idea wrt to your low latency requirements.

How much more?

R5k more. From Incredible. Didn't feel like waiting around for delivery and I couldn't find any other shops open other than others who sell at a premium. Found what I wanted in this laptop at Incredible so went with it. Gonna be fun using my DJ software with a touch screen...

I'm told that this spec machine should be able to play games decently. I don't play games, but it's good to know...:D

I have one of those too, its a brilliant machine.
Just get rid of that spindle disk and pop a 256GB SSD in, life gets even better with one of those.

Actually wait mine is full HD, still its pretty much the same machine.
Mine has an msata slot, you should check if yours does too cos then you can get an ssd for that without messing with your drive storage.
