Best options these days for proxy / traffic encryption / IP masking

So I'm considering popcorntime for the stuff I just can't get from the traditional channels. It looks promising. I do want to get a proxy of sorts though and wondered what the best value is these days? What are you using and how does it perform? I assume I need more than just a DNS service for my needs of encryption and IP masking. I assume it will also prevent shaping if any is implemented by the ISP.

Ipvanish or express vpn are pretty good.

I used popcorntime with PureVPN and it worked fine. I changed the protocol to IKEv2 for security + stream and the speed was quite good for streaming.
