I want to be able to watch DStv on my pc. I'm just wondering what is the best TV card for doing so, for the best price possible.

Thanks

This deal sounds good but is only available in the UK. In SA they seem to be closer to R1000.

Conditional Access Module - where you would put the dstv smartcard into to optain the decryption keys, as opposed to the naughty stuff .........

Analog or digital will make no difference right now unless you in an area (lucky you) that already has the digital terestrial signal running. And is only for SABC stuff anyway.

And it's going to be a long time before the anaolg signal is turned off at the rate they going so your pc & card will long be obsolete by then.

You can get Satelite TV cards, but you will only get the free stuff - not dstv. (unless you are a crook)

Hmm. I never knew such things existed. I dare ask how much they are - I might die.

What about this card: COMPRO Videomate E850F http://www.landmarkpc.co.za/store/c...-2d3d-with-hardware-mpeg-encoding-p-2263.html

I like the control. I'm quite fussy with that sort of thing. The Hauppauge looks ugly.

It's inside your pc bru! wot diff does that make?
Or is it the remote that looks ugly? Hmm, must say the cosmetics of the remote are the least of my worries.......

But that thing looks OK. Always go for something with hardware onboard decoding unless you have a super-duper pc.

You still have not said what software / OS or app you plan on running.
If there no linux drivers for example & you plan on useing mythtv you could have a problem......

As far as remotes go - there is/are always a variety of add-ons. esp for the Hauppauge range.

Hauppauge PVR150 is excellent!. You will be using the DSTV remote to change channels? Get cheap remote blaster if DSTV is in other room

Yeah I was talking about the remote. Haha. But anywho. I don't suppose that really matters. If it's ugly I'll just hide it.

I'm using Windows Vista so I suppose I'll just use Media Centre to watch. I like Media Centre's interface but software's not really a problem. What would you recommend anyway though?
