The parent company of the company I run is looking for somewhere they can order Apple products from that does NOT involve Core.

Apparently Core are useless and pissing off the parent company so they would rather DHL the products from abroad to here. They are not worried if the warranties are only covered overseas as they would prefer to courier it back abroad with DHL for the warranties than having to deal with Core.

Looking for a place to order with competitive pricing and good service delivery. Both areas that Core fail at.

Amazon + remailing service = :)

Apple portables have an international warranty (in case you're concerned with that).

Just checking.. will Amazon not deliver directly to South Africa or is it just Apple products that they will not deliver to SA? Do you have to use a remailer service?

Yeah, Amazon is tricky when it comes to sending a lot of things, particularly electronics, to SA. You'll have to use a remailing service unless you know anyone there who will do it for you.

Also check out www.bhphotovideo.com
I've ordered lots of electronics from them, no problems ever..... Delivery is always very quick through UPS
Unfortunately, if you look at any of the Mac product pages you'll see "This item can only be shipped to a US address."

Hows that possible, i'm a registered Customs Imported, also has a UPS account, but can't even order speaker wires and inter connects from Radio Shack, try Amazon.co.uk and see if you can buy a PS3 game?

Yeah, sorry, I actually missed that. Weird thing is, they let you add it to your cart and even work out an exact shipping amount for it to South Africa. I wonder if they would actually let you complete the order ....

Don't know, but I've ordered Canon cameras, Panasonic cameras, Canon lenses, Pioneer wireless headphones etc etc. All delivered by UPS, no problems. As far as taxes go, I've only paid VAT on the purchase values plus admin fees between R30 and R120 per order, no extra duties.

I ordered my 15" MBP with the Antiglare screen directly on the US Apple Store. Shipped to Shipito US address and forwarded to me with Fedex. Only took 2 weeks to get as it was a special order - compared to Core saying 6 to 8 weeks and I am still waiting for them to forward me an invoice to pay the deposit....

Still worked out cheaper than through Core

What was the $ amount at the US Apple Store for your config and then what was the total cost in ZAR if I may ask?

How did you order it directly from the US Apple Store? My understanding is that unless its recently changed they only accept US credit cards regardless of the address you are sending it to.
