Best router for streaming Netflix

I did yes, which does make me a bit reluctant to buy an expensive router. But I am willing to try and see if a better router makes a difference.

It won't.

Your Asus router will be fine for everything a normal user wants to do, spending R2000 won't change a thing, I'm 90% sure it's the ISP and not your network.

MIMO is irrelevant to you since you said you used Ethernet, MIMO is a Wi-Fi technology.

So I tried streaming Netflix trough Apple TV rather. It looks much better, with no quality drops. :D (So the Smart TV Netflix app and PS4 Netflix app are crappy)

I then only realized how big difference it makes using the different HDMI ports on the TV. Now the only issue is that my PS4 and Apple TV are competing for the HDMI 1 port on the TV, which is HDR enabled, meaning I need to switch cables regularly...

So I will see if a capped option from Axxess or Vox will improve the TV's Netflix app, allowing the PS4 to use the HDMI 1 port permanently.

Try and change your DNS on the TV to Google DNS of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Will try capped and different ISP this weekend thanks.

Hi guys. So I switched to a capped account on Axxess today. Will see if the streaming on Netflix improves. Managed to use Netflix on the PS4 last night, while still on the uncapped option. Quality was ok, but the streaming speed was fixed at 1.8 mb/s @ 720p. (4 meg line). No difference in streaming speed between LAN cable or Wifi.

Are your Playback Settings set to High?

I have the base Netfix account, meaning no 720p, only 520p max or something, and mine does 1.9Mb/s - 2Mb/s on that

I had issues last night on Axxess capped account streaming Netflix, not sure if it's a once off issue, will check again tonight

You mentioned your Apple device made a difference - seems like your ISP speed is where it should be on the 4Mbps DSL line.
Do yourself a favor and go visit Incredible Corruption and purchase MyGiga box set and connect your DSL through the set box , think your problem of resolution quality and streaming will be sorted.

If he can't use his AppleTV due to a shortage of ports what's the use of getting another device?

Correct. Ideally I would like to get the Netflix quality as good when using the PS4 or Smart TV app as when using the Apple TV. my tv only has 1 HDMI port with HDR enabled.
