Best smartwatches you can buy in SA

My "premium" R699 Polaroid watch didn't make the grade?

Hi
I want to get two Apple watches with cellular for my kids. They do not have iPhones and do not plan on getting them iPhone. Just want to give them the Apple watches activated on cellular network for communications. Running into a brick wall with Vodacom on options to activate the Apple watch esim as stand alone contract... Any one done something like this or have info.

Don't know who comes up with these lists. The list of "best" includes a midrange Garmin, but not their high-end ones?

I am looking at a new watch , Liked the Garmin Pay . But what makes Garmin so special for there expensive prices

.

Good question…

Don't. The Apple Watch is still considered a companion device to the iPhone. I don't think you can even setup a Apple Watch without an iPhone?

Of that list, the choice as a smart watch is basically Apple or Samsung depending on ecosystem, as a sport watch its Samsung or Garmin, as notification device you can throw in the hauwei.

You can since about two years ago.

Specifically for this very application of kids without phones.

Probably exactly why he asked about it.

That's not setting up an apple watch without an iPhone.

I wouldn't even go so far as to presume that he/she has one either.

Reading their context it appears they knew about this very setup beforehand and hence asking the questions.

So it’s a pretty safe bet they have one themselves, just don’t want to get them for the kids.

I have the TicWatch 3 Ultra, little disappointed in the battery life, hardly ever get more than a day out of it.

It charges fast though, so I can charge it when I take a shower and by the time I'm back at my desk it's charged.

Also WearOS 3 seams nowhere in sight.

You are correct. Don't want to get an iPhone for the kids, I do have one. The family setup is what I had in mind. Can't do it if Vodacom can't give me a separate contract for the Apple Watch.
