Hi all

I'm looking for the best streaming option and owuld love to hear from anyone on the board. Which is best for SA? Amazon Fire TV, aapple tv, roku, or chromecast? (Any others I may have missed?) I want something I can tweak, as I use getflix so I can stream iplayer and All4 etc

I was thinking Roku, but was told here that the Roku do not allow changing DNS settings. Bwana suggested me hooking up my old router to my Vodacom fibre router (because I cant get into the Vodacom fibre router to change settings) and changing DNS settings in my router, then blocking 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Is that doable?

Best is subjective, before buying anything first define your needs.

Using a VPN for streaming is a bit silly if you can get away with using a DNS proxy.

Get a Roku and a DNS proxy, and use the DNS servers' from your proxy on your router and you're sorted.

Note: A DNS proxy only makes sense if you actually intend on using US Netflix/HBO etc

If you're just using ZA Netflix and Showmax, then you don't need anything fancy.

I use USA netflix and stream UK channels using DNS proxy. I've heard you can't change DNS settings in a Roku. Roku was my first choice till I fuond this out and am now leaning toward Amazaon Fire TV
